Jesuit Wins/Splits with Frostburg & Fairmont

Frostburg, MD, November 14, 2008---The men’s team won both meets defeating both Frostburg and Fairmont.  The women toppled Frostburg but fell short, losing to Fairmont.

Freshman Ben Foreman continued his success by winning three individual events on the day.  Foreman reached the wall first in the 800 M Free (9:38.81), the 200 M Fly (2:25.97) and the 400 M Free (4:38.35).  Foreman also anchored the 400 M Free Relay that placed first with teammates Max Queale, Sergio Bracamontes, and Kevin Rico with a time of 3:52.20.

Sergio Bracamontes was also a multiple winner in the 200 M Free (2:06.97) and the 100 M Fly (1:01.47).  He was also a member of the 400 M Medley Relay which opened the meet with a win.  Bracamontes was joined by Logan Weaver, Kevin Rico, and Max Queale.  The men’s 200 M Backstroke was won by freshman Jacob Totherow with a time of 2:31.20.

The team trailed Frostburg for a majority of the meet, but were able to come back within striking distance before the last relay.  The Lady Cardinals were able to take first in the 400 M Freestyle Relay with the team of Ali Hengesbach, Chelsea Guiseppi, Dulce Rizo, and Andi Ftizgibbon which sealed victory and the women’s first win of the season.

“Our men’s team did exactly what they were supposed to do.  Our guys swam really well and performed at a high level.”

West said, “I am really proud of our women. We had a true challenge with Frostburg.  They (Frostburg) tried diving to gain every point possible.”

“Even in the face of some officiating I disagree with, our women stayed focused to the end and pulled out the win.”
