McSweeney Selected First Team All-WVIAC, Johnson Honorable Mention Princeton, WV, May 4, 2010---After being sidelined with a shoulder injury last year, Wheeling Jesuit's Ashley McSweeney battled back with an extraordinary season and received First Team All-WVIAC honors. The Magnolia High School standout from New Martinsville, WV served as a utility player this season, appearing in the infield (shortstop/second base), outfield (center field) and designated player positions. McSweeney played in 41 games, collecting 49 hits in 135 at-bats for a .363 batting average. She earned extra bases 18 times, including five round trippers and 13 doubles. McSweeney drove in 19 Lady Cardinals and scored 22 runs. In the field, McSweeney posted a .929 fielding percentage, committing only seven errors in 98 chances with 53 putouts and 38 assists. Freshman infielder Shaynna Johnson was also recognized for her play by the WVIAC, landing on the league’s Honorable Mention team. Johnson finished her freshman campaign with a .347 batting average, including 43 hits and 25 RBI.
