McSweeney Earns Third Team All-American Honors
Wheeling Jesuit University senior Ashley McSweeney has been honored as a 2010 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II third team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association at the non-pitching utility position.
After suffering a season-ending shoulder injury in 2009, McSweeney returned in 2010 as a utility player. She made appearances at shortstop, second base, center field, and the designated player position.
McSweeney played in 41 games, collecting 49 hits in 135 at-bats for a .363 batting average. She earned extra bases 18 times, including five home runs and 13 doubles. The first team All-WVIAC and All-Atlantic Region honoree drove in 19 Lady Cardinals and scored 22 runs.
In the field, McSweeney posted a .929 fielding percentage, committing only seven errors in 98 chances with 53 putouts and 38 assists.
