JESUIT SWIMMING RANKED 23rd in NATION
Wheeling, WV---The Wheeling Jesuit University Men’s swimming team has been ranked 23rd in the nation in the Division II National Power Ranking while the Women’s Team was ranked 28th.
This rank is indicative of dual meet performance in the first half of the season. To date, WJU is 6-1 in dual meets thus far in their 2009-2010 competition schedule.
Head Coach and aquatics director Rick West believes that this ranking is indicative of the hard work and dedication that has been spent rebuilding the WJU squad.
“When I returned to Jesuit in 2007,” West said, “There were literally two members on the team. We’ve spent the last two years in re-build mode”
“Clearly our work is paying off,” West said.
West said that now the focus is to move up the ranks.
“With improvement, hopefully we will continue to gain momentum,” West said. “Our women were ranked just out of the top 25, so I’d say we’ve come a along way in two short years. We’re not done yet.”
The Cardinals resume their season Friday, January 16th, 2010 when they take on the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan College. For more information about Wheeling Jesuit University or its swimming program, visit them on the web at www.wju.edu.
