Jesuit Men and Women fall to West Virginia Wesleyan

Buckhannon, WV, January 10, 2009---The Wheeling Jesuit’s men’s and women’s swimming teams lost to the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan during their final dual meet with the conference rival of the 2008-2009 season. 

The women came up short with a 78-167 decision, while the men lost by four with a score of 126-130.  Freshman Andi Fitzgibbon continued to improve as she has throughout the season by earning a win in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:46.71. 

On the men’s side Senior Kevin Rico touched first in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:05.39.  Junior Sergio Bracamontes also continued his winning ways by touching first in the 200 Butterfly with a time of 2:04.68.

Head coach Rick West expressed his frustration with the loss.
 “It is always disappointing to loose to a conference competitor, “ West said. “Wesleyan really swam well today and finished off the meet.”

“Our women’s team was out manned but actually performed really well despite the lack of personnel.  On the men’s side we needed to finish hard and missed our mark.  We led most of the meet and had several opportunities to take the win.  As a young team I’m sure that this will resonate and show results in the upcoming contests, “West said.
