Gossett, Allison Dominate Both Sides of the Net
Greensburg, PA, Nov. 5, 2009---Wheeling Jesuit volleyball (30-5, 13-0) continues to stay unbeaten in WVIAC play after taking three sets from Seton Hill University (10-14, 5-8) on Thursday evening by scores of 25-13, 25-17, and 25-22.
Senior Missy Gossett was the only Cardinal to reach double digits in kills against the Griffins, with ten. In addition, Gossett deflected five of Seton Hill’s attacks to lead Jesuit in blocks. Junior Keysha Allison contributed superior play on both sides of the net as well. She had 17 assists and nine kills on the offensive side with three blocks and eight digs defensively. The duo accounted for all but one block and 19 of WJU’s 47 kills.
Freshman Lindsay Gaughan and Allissa Ware each chipped in 10 digs while, Gaughan tossed 22 assists, and Ware registered seven kills to go along with a couple blocks. Sophomore Megan Ozarzak posted three service aces and five kills for eight points on the evening, and junior Laura O’Reilly recorded 11 digs and had a service ace.
Wheeling Jesuit will play host to Davis and Elkins College and Tiffin University on Saturday, November 7th. The Cardinals will begin play with D&E at 12:30 p.m. and take-on Tiffin at 2:30 p.m.
