Lady Cards Dismantle Lady Blues

Wheeling, WV, Jan 23, 2010---In Saturday’s nightcap, the Lady Cardinals (6-9, 5-5) dismantled the Lady Blues (1-15, 1-10) of Bluefield State College 85-60.

In the opening eight minutes, fans at the Alma Grace McDonough Center witnessed a back-and-forth ball game four lead changes. The Lady Cards surged for 12 straight points during a 24-10 run to end the first period.

The Lady Cardinals did not miss a beat during the break as they opened the second half with19-6 run in five minutes.  They maintained the 30 point advantage until the Lady Blues scored on back-to-back possessions with 0:47 remaining.

Sophomores Kourtney Booth and Cassy Sanderson led the way for the Lady Cards. Booth tallied 15 points while Sanderson was one point shy of the mark with 14 points. Junior Nicole Izzo chipped in 10 points to round out the double-digit scorers and Freshman Kara DeSantis controlled the glass, grabbing 12 rebounds to go along with a six point effort.

The Lady Cards will travel to Salem, WV on Thursday, January 28th to take on the Fighting Tigers of Salem International University. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.
