Cardinals Fly Past Tigers
Salem, WV, Jan. 28, 2010---Kourtney Booth's 15 points paced the Lady Cardinals (7-9, 6-5) as 14 different Wheeling Jesuit players reached the scoring column in an 81-36 rout of Salem International (0-16, 0-11). Cassy Sanderson chipped in with a dozen points while Megan Stuvek and Lauren Myers each ended with 11.
Wheeling Jesuit was 19-of-24 from the floor in the first frame as they opened with a 19-2 run and held a 21 point advantage at the break. The Lady Cards forced 16 turnovers and recorded 10 steals while limiting Salem to 23 points on 14 field goals.
In the second half, the Cardinals continued the rout and built a 38 point lead in the first eight minutes. The defense caused 14 more turnovers by intercepting 10 passes, bringing the game total and season high 20 steals. Stuvek led the way with five takeaways while Chrissy Pavlik and Bridget Buskirk each had four.
The Lady Cards went on to shoot 53 percent for the game including an 8-for-17 showing from beyond the arc. They held a 37 to 35 advantage on the glass.
The women will travel to Concord University on Saturday, January 30 for a 4:00 p.m. start.
