Lady Cards Catch Fire in First Half
Shepherdstown, WV, Dec. 1, 2009---Wheeling Jesuit Lady Cardinals (3-1, 2-0) connected on 13 three-pointers en route to a 77-62 road win at Shepherd (2-2, 1-1). Sophomore Kourtney Booth knocked down 6 of 10 long range shots and scored a game-high 26 points while senior Kim Mueller added 17 points and Cassy Sanderson had 13. Booth and Sanderson combined for nine triples as Saderson had a perfect 3-3 performance.
The Lady Cards shot 48% (29-61) in two halves of play with an impressive 56% (19-34) showing in the first half. They racked up ten three-pointers in the first half, shooting 59% (10-17) from downtown, and took a 20 point lead into the break.
In the second half, the ladies only hit three from beyond the arc and were 10 of 27 from the field in the fifteen point victory.
Wheeling Jesuit women’s basketball team will be back in actcion on Saturday, Dec. 5th. They will travel to Greensburg, PA for their third conference game against Seton Hill University, tipping off at 4:00 p.m.
