Lady Cards Late Run Wasn't Enough
Wheeling, WV, Feb.18, 2010---Wheeling Jesuit women’s basketball team went on a 10-0 run in the second half, but couldn't overcome a 14 point deficit against Seton Hill University on Wednesday evening as they fell 62-52.
The Lady Cardinals made 50 percent of their shots from the floor in the second half after a 25 percent showing in the first. Despite the fist period miscues, the ladies kept the game within 10 points going into the break.
The defense forced 22 turnovers and battled on the glass giving the Lady Griffins a slight rebound advantage at 31-29. Seton Hill pushed the lead to as many as 14 in the second frame, but with 7:13 left to play the Lady Cards were with in four points of the lead after a 10-0 run. From that point on the two teams traded scoring possessions, and the Lady Cards were forced to send the Griffins to the line.
Kara DeSantis paced the Lady Cardinals with 15 points and six rebounds. Megan Stuvek pulled down seven missed shots while adding six points. Kim Mueller, Kourtney Booth, and Chrissy Pavlik each had nine points. Mueller had another perfect night on the foul line connecting on all three of her attempts.
The Lady Cardinals will travel to Vienna, WV for a conference game against Ohio Valley University on Saturday, February 20th. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
