Women's Golf Coach, Sue Vail, Announces Class of 2013
Women’s Golf Coach, Sue Vail, is announcing her three new freshmen players for the fall of 2009 at Wheeling Jesuit University. Vail said, “These three players will make an immediate positive impact on our program for they have been playing tournament golf for many years and have been acclimated to a high level of competition.”
RACHEL HICKMAN: Twin Lakes Senior High School, Burnettsville, Indiana Rachel has been playing on her varsity team for four years and has been on the all-conference team during that time and was the number one player on her team in her senior year. She placed 2nd in the senior division of the Heartland Crossing College Recruitment Tournament in 2008 and 4th overall. Rachel played in six CIJGA Tournaments in 2008, finishing 1st five times and 2nd once.
ERIN METZGER: Jackson High School, Canton, Ohio Erin was not only a golfer but also a swimmer at her high school. In attending Wheeling Jesuit, she will concentrate on her first love, golf. She was 1st Team All-County in 2007 and 2008, while being placed on the Second Team Northeast District of Ohio in 2008.
WHITNEY YOUNG: The Linsly School, Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania In more than the 150 year history of the school, Whitney is the first female student to make the varsity team. In the West Penn Minority Junior Golf Program, she was the Girl Player of the Year for 4 years. Whitney tied for 2nd place in the P.J. Boatwright KPGA State Championship in 2008 and was a state finalist in the Keystone Public Golf Association State Championship from 2006 to 2008. She has been playing competitive golf since she was 11 years old.
