Ricky Moore

Head Coach

Events: Sprints, Mid-Distance and Distance 

 

 

Ricky Moore is in his fourth full year as the Head Cross Country/Track and Field Coach for Wheeling Jesuit University.

 

Moore took over the reigns after 3 years as an assistant on the Cardinals coaching staff under former Head Coach Trent Huntsinger. During his tenure as the Head Coach, Moore has directed the Cardinals Cross Country and Track & Field teams to new heights. Under Moore’s tutelage the Cardinal harriers have broken 19 school records, achieved 20 national qualifying marks, garnered 1 All-American plaque, and set 5 WVIAC All Time Meet Records. Moore has also coached 43 All-WVIAC Conference Athletes, 3 WVIAC Athletes of the Year, 2 WVIAC Freshman of the Year, and 1 WVIAC Field Athlete of the Year.

 

The Cardinals have also excelled in the classroom. The men’s and women’s programs have obtained Academic All-American Team honors 2 out of the 3 seasons. Moreover, 9 individuals have garnered Academic All-American honors. For his efforts during the 2008 season Moore was recognized as the WVIAC Men’s Coach of the Year and a finalist for the Atlantic Region’s Men’s Coach of the Year.

 

Before his career as a coach at Wheeling Jesuit University, Moore competed as a student-athlete for the Cardinals. During his tenure at WJU Moore obtained 2 All-American plaques, including a 3rd place finish at the NCAA Indoor 5,000 meters, and 7 Academic All-American certificates. Post collegiately Moore competed professionally for Saucony in events around the U.S., finishing in the top 15 of several major events.

 

Moore graduated from Wheeling Jesuit with a degree in a B.A. in History and he currently resides in Wheeling with his wife Bethany and their two sons Redick and Rylan.

Assistant Coach

Events: Throws and Jumps

 

Andy Kidwell enters his fourth year as an Assistant Coach for the Cardinals Track and Field program.

 

During his tenure, Coach Kidwell has proven to be a very valuable asset to WJU. Under his tutelage the Cardinal’s have broken almost every school record in the throws. His athletes have set 2 WVIAC records, and achieved 10 national qualifying marks. Coach Kidwell’s athletes have excelled especially well at the conference championships, as the Lady Cardinal throwers have dominated the majority of the throwing events at the WVIAC Championships by placing three individuals in the top 6 of three different events.

 

Before his coaching career, Andy was a standout student-athlete at Wheeling Jesuit. During his senior year Coach Kidwell qualified for the NCAA Nationals in the Hammer Throw placing 11th. He also placed very well at several of the WVIAC Championship meets during his collegiate career.

 

Andy graduated from WJU with a degree in Education as well as his Masters degree in Business Administration. Andy also is currently employed as a school teacher at Bishop Donahue High school.

Assistant Coach

Events: Sprints and Hurdles

 

 

Daniel Greaves has been a member of the Wheeling Jesuit coaching staff for the past two seasons after a stellar academic and athletic career at WJU.

 

Greaves, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, rewrote the Cardinals record books during his tenure. During his senior season Greaves set records in the 400 meters (47.35), 400 meter hurdles (51.52), and as a member of the 1600 meter relay team (3:15.11). He capped off his outstanding career with his All-American performance in the 400 meter hurdles, at the 2008 NCAA Championships.

 

He was recognized by the WVIAC as the 2008 Track and Field MVP

Greaves was equally a standout in the classroom as he garnered 3 Academic All-American plaques and carried above a 3.25 GPA while graduating with a degree in communications. Greaves just received his M.B.A. from WJU and resides in Washington, PA.

Graduate Assistant Coach

Events: Combined Events and Jumps

 

Ricky Kump enters his first year as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the Cardinals Track and Field program.

 

Kump will work directly with the Cardinal Multi-Event athletes and the jumpers. He is a native of Great Cacapon, WV and he attended West Virginia Wesleyan College.

 

Before his coaching career, Ricky was a standout student-athlete at West Virginia Wesleyan College. During his career, Kump amassed quite a resume, the pinnacle of which was his 5th place finish in the Decathlon at the 2010 NCAA Championships. He was awarded with an All-American award for his efforts. Kump was a 5 time NCAA national qualifier on the track and he set 5 school records at WVWC.  His Decathlon P.R. of 6770 points is also a school record.

 

Ricky graduated from WVWC with a degree in Business Administration. He is currently studying to receive is M.B.A from Wheeling Jesuit.
