Ricky Moore

Head Coach

Ricky Moore is in his second full year as the Head Cross Country/Track and Field Coach for Wheeling Jesuit University. Moore took over the reigns after 3 years as an assistant on the Cardinals coaching staff under former Head Coach Trent Huntsinger. In his first season as the Head Coach, Moore directed the Cardinals Track and Field teams to stellar finishes at the WVIAC Championships.

The Cardinal Men won their second WVIAC title in consecutive years, while the women finished as runner-up for the second straight season.  Under Moore’s tutelage the Cardinal harriers broke 9 school records, achieved 8 national qualifying marks, and garnered 1 All-American plaque.

The Cardinals also excelled in the classroom during the 2008 season. The women’s program obtained Academic All-American Team honors, while 2 individuals on the men’s side garnered Academic All-American honors. For his efforts during the 2008 season Moore was recognized as the WVIAC Men’s Coach of the Year and a finalist for the Atlantic Region’s Men’s Coach of the Year.

Before his career as a coach at Wheeling Jesuit University, Moore competed as a student-athlete for the Cardinals. During his tenure at WJU Moore obtained 2 All-American plaques, including a 3rd place finish at the NCAA Indoor 5,000 meters, and 7 Academic All-American certificates. Post collegiately Moore competed professionally for Saucony in events around the U.S., finishing in the top 15 of several major events. Moore graduated from Wheeling Jesuit with a degree in a B.A. in History and he currently resides in Wheeling with his wife Bethany and their son Redick.
