Policy information, use requirements, and registration information.

Students wishing to use their Xbox systems for Xbox Live need to read the WJU Internet Gaming Policy below and follow the instructions to register.

You may submit your Xbox system's registration information at any time.

In summary, this Internet Gaming Policy is an exception to the overall Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and only includes Xbox systems.

WJU Internet Gaming Policy

The current WJU Acceptable Use Policy prohibits the use of University IT resources to access games and recreational services. This restriction includes Internet-based games as well.

At the request of students during the Spring 2008 semester, and in consultation with the Academic Dean and the Director of Residence Life, the current policy will be amended to include the following:

Internet gaming will be permitted for Xbox Live wired game systems only. Wireless Xbox systems are not supported.

Students are completely responsible for registering, supporting, troubleshooting, and the responsible use of their game systems. All WJU policies that pertain to gambling, pornography, copyright, and security apply. ITS is not responsible for any hardware or software failure of any gaming device attached to the WJU network - users do so at their own risk. ITS reserves the right to limit bandwidth or eliminate Internet gaming access in the event of any policy violation or excessive bandwidth consumption.

Gaining access to Xbox Live requires that each user register his/her system with ITS and provide that system's MAC address. Registration will be done online at http://helpdesk.wju.edu by clicking on the ResNet link on that page. Anticipated turnaround to provide Internet access to registered systems is 10 business days. Any attempt to register, assign or use an IP number other than that provided by the WJU network registration server may result in removal of network privileges, including PC access.

Xbox Live access will be available 9PM to 8AM on weekdays and 24 hours from 9PM on Friday until 8AM on Sunday.
