• Make sure you obtain permission from your academic advisor before you seek an internship assignment.
• You'll need to find a full-time WJU faculty member who will agree to serve as the Faculty Supervisor. This person does not have to be your academic advisor, but must be in the department in which you expect to receive credit.
• Next, you apply, interview for, and obtain internship placement.
• After getting an internship, you will need to obtain and complete the "Internship Registration Form". These forms are availiable at the Career Services Center or Registrar's Office. You will need to obtain the necessary signatures, from both the work site supervisor and the faculty supervisor, and then submit it to the Associate Dean.
• You should establish a mutually agreeable work schedule with the employer. Since most organizations do not have breaks similar to the college's, you and the work site supervisor must agree on in advance whether you will work at the placement site during the school's scheduled breaks.
• Make certain to carry out required duties of the work experience in the best of your ability.
• Follow the rules and regulations of the employing organization. You should dress and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the other employees of the work site.
• Complete the agreed upon length of placement.
• While working, communicate with the Faculty Supervisor at regular intervals to advise of progress, problems or other occurrences you may have.
• At the end of the semester, you will submit the required written work to the Faculty Supervisor.
• Finally, you will complete the form, evalutaing the internship placement in terms of knowledge gained and experience.
