New Scholarship Exemplifies Family's Spirit

In celebration of our first 50 years, and in anticipation of the success of our next 50, the Berthold/Neal family created an endowed scholarship fund to support outstanding students from West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania whose commitment to their education is as fervent as that of our pioneers. Survey Says We Do Excellent Job At Engaging Our Students

Our mean scores were higher in every category when compared to the mean scores of the other participating Jesuit colleges or universities in the 2005 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE).

Sister Constance Dodd to Receive Medal from the Pope

Our students, faculty and members of the community have been blessed by the service opportunities provided by Marist Sister Constance Dodd, director of the Catholic Neighborhood Center in Wheeling. Sister Dodd was named recently as a recipient of the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Medal by Pope Benedict XVI in recognition of her dedication to the care of the poor in Wheeling. The Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice Medal is presented on behalf of the Church and the Papacy and is the highest award a non-cleric can receive. Send greetings and congratulations to her via e-mail at news@wju.edu.

Alumnus' Family History Comes Alive in New Book

A 1967 political science graduate followed his family history and became the author of a new book that shows how small decisions in life can create the most unintended consequences. David Quinn's passion for genealogy led him to uncover the remarkable story of his great, great uncle Michael Quinn. After two years of research conducted in Ireland, England, and the United States, David was ready to embark on the writing of a historical novel, It May Be Forever, based on Michael Quinn's extraordinary life.
