Graduates of Nuclear Medicine Program Have a Glowing Future
Nuclear medicine technologists aren't feeling the effects of a slow job market. In fact, recent graduates from Wheeling Jesuit University have jobs waiting for them when they leave the classroom. "Our nuclear medicine students are in demand at hospitals such as The Cleveland Clinic, University of Maryland Medical System and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center," says Angela Macci Bires, assistant professor and department chair. "These centers are offering them job incentives and often times positions are held for them until they graduate. Wheeling Jesuit nuclear medicine graduates have a 100 percent employment rate."

The Point of A Wheeling Jesuit Education

Wheeling Jesuit University President Rev. Joseph Hacala, S.J., recently corresponded with high school students about the value of an undergraduate degree from Wheeling Jesuit. Below is an excerpt from the correspondence that may serve as a building block for many of our alumni and friends when answering similar questions from prospective students:

"We think the point is to offer you an education for life. When you enroll at Wheeling Jesuit, you officially enter an educational system more than 450 years old, and after 450 years of practice, we believe we're getting it right! Jesuit education, characterized by a real, practical concern for you and what you do with your life, focuses on considerably more than just a degree, and, on considerably more than merely preparing you to enter the work force, or simply housing, feeding, educating and entertaining you. Any other university could do that.

"Rather, unique among all other universities, we focus our efforts on helping you develop a life of competence, conscience, compassion, community, and commitment. A life in a place where you are known, and cared about, and where you are called to do and to be more. When you graduate in four years, we want you to be successful, but, more characteristic of Wheeling Jesuit University, we want you to be significant. A lofty goal? Perhaps. A reachable goal? Absolutely."

Open House events are planned for October 18, and November 8. To arrange a visit of the Wheeling Jesuit University campus, or to apply, call 1-800-624-6992 or e-mail admiss@wju.edu or visit Wheeling Jesuit online at www.wju.edu

A recent speech by Fr. Hacala on the topic is found online. MORE
