Sixteen WJU Students Inducted into National Jesuit Honor Society

Wheeling Jesuit University inducted 16 new members in the national Jesuit honor society, Alpha Sigma Nu, on April 20 in the Chapel of Mary and Joseph.

Guest speaker for the ceremony was Wheeling Jesuit alumnus and President of Riesbeck Food Markets, Richard Riesbeck. He is a member of the WJU class of 2003 and Alpha Sigma Nu. WJU President, Dr. Debra Townsley, welcomed the honorees, as well.

Also during the ceremony, WJU's Alpha Sigma Nu Faculty Advisor, Rev. Michael F. Steltenkamp, S.J., recognized Margie Cooke RIGHT, for her service as the Chapter Coordinator since 1999. Cooke is retiring from the university in June.

Alpha Sigma Nu, the honor society of 31 Jesuit institutions of higher education, recognizes those students who distinguish themselves in scholarship, service, and fidelity to values associated with Jesuit tradition. ASN encourages its members to a lifetime pursuit of intellectual development, deepening Ignatian spirituality, service to others and a commitment to the core principles of Jesuit education.
