The Office of Global Outreach (OGO) is currently collaborating with international partenrs on projects that:

• Mesh creativity and innocation in science and technology with international business and entrepreneurship
• Provide students hands-on learning experiences such as interaction and collaboration with foregn and international government and industry

The OGO has been working closely wiht two Spanish partners in particular; the University of Deusto and GAIA, an association of over 200 information technology (IT) firms located in the Basque country (North of Spain). GAIA operates on behalf of its IT companies to participate in technology, science, inter-cultural and international projects within the European Union.

In October 2008 when GAIA selected and sponsored twelve University of Deusto graduates to study at WJU's English Language Institute. The OGO organized professional internships activities with Wheeling areas businesses and mentored the students on the development of new technologies and commercial opportunities.

Later, in June 2009, GAIA hosted the OGO and our local commerical partners, RED (Regional Economic Development Partnership) and the State of West Viginia Development Office in Bilbao, Spain. GAIA's Director of International Affairs, Mr. Jokin Garatea, arranged and chaired meetings with various organizations including:

• University of Deusto
• The Deusto Foundation - Private foundation that sponsors research and entrepreneurial activities at Deusto
• GAIA
• Seed Capital Bizkaia - Basque government seed investors
• SPRI - Development Agency within Basque Department of Industry and Commerce
• BAT/Basque Team - Basque Center of Excellent for Sport
• Entel - GAIA member IT firm
• InnovaTec - GAIA member science and technology R&D firm
