Beyer Appointed President October 22, 2010 Dear Campus Community, On behalf of the Board of Directors, it is my pleasure to announce to the Wheeling Jesuit University Community that Mr. Richard Beyer has agreed to accept our invitation to serve as the ninth President of the University. After considering the input of the Wheeling Jesuit University Community, the Presidential Search Committee unanimously recommended Mr. Beyer to the Board of Directors. It noted his strong leadership ability, his experience in bringing about positive change in two universities and in business, his financial expertise, his communication skills and his membership on the Board of the Association of Governing Boards for Colleges and Universities. The Wheeling Jesuit Board of Directors and Board of Trustees unanimously voted to elect Mr. Beyer as our next President. It is my personal pleasure to express my appreciation to the Presidential Search Committee and to all of those in our community who participated in the interview process, which helped us to make the determination to select Mr. Beyer. When contacted, Mr. Beyer expressed his appreciation to the Search Committee, the Board of Directors, and the Board of Trustees for their confidence and extended his gratitude to everyone. He looks forward to joining our campus community. Mr. Beyer is expected to begin his duties full time on January 2, 2011, but is expected to be on campus as often as possible in the next few months to participate in transition planning.
