SSAC Mission Statement

The Service for Social Action Center (SSAC) coordinates service and core-based service-learning activities for members of the Wheeling Jesuit University community.  It provides the students, faculty, staff, and administrators with transformative service opportunities in Wheeling, Appalachia and across the country to form "Men and women for others."

Throughout the year, the SSAC in partnership with Campus Ministry identifies service projects, tracks participation and provides support with spiritual reflection and skill development for student clubs and programs including Fr. Pedro Arrupe, S.J. Scholars, Circle K, the Mother Jones House, residence halls and First Year Seminar.

The SSAC also offers training and assistance for faculty who want to incorporate a service-learning component in their courses, applying the skills and theories learned in the classroom to "real world" projects.
