Kirby Hall

Philip and Evelyn Kirby Hall, named after WJU’s board president, is an all female residential facility. The hall can house 64 students in its 32 two person rooms,which are located on the second and third floors of the building. Each room has a private bathroom. Large lounge and study rooms can also be found on the second and third floors of the hall. The first floor serves are the main entrance to the residence hall. There is a reception desk, a television lounge and kitchen and dining area off of the reception area.

Also located on the first floor of Kirby Hall is the McShain Admissions Center and the Student Financial Aid Department. The McShain Admissions Center is accessible through its own, separate entrance. The Center is named after John and Mary McShain, Philadelphia natives and long time benefactors to the University.

Room Furnishing
Each room has two of the following: beds, desks, study chairs, closets, bureaus, mirrors, wall lights, and small wastebasket. The mattresses are regular twin size. Most of the rooms do not have carpet.

Supplies to Bring
Extension cord, power strip, area carpet/throw rug, desk lamp, alarm clock, iron/ironing board, stereo, dry erase board, masking tape, towels, laundry basket, hair dryer, bed linens, hangers, tv/vcr, telephone, small refrigerator, fan, cleaning supplies, stackable crates, posters to decorate, ** No open coil cooking appliances such as hot plates are allowed.

Laundry
There are washers and dryers on each floor. Laundry services are provided free to residents only.

Lounges
There is a TV located in the 24 hour lounge. The 24 hour lounge is the only area where residents can have male visitors once visitation hours are over. There is also a TV lounge on the 1st and 2nd floors.

Cable/Phone Service
Each room has access to telephone service. These services are provided as a part of the Housing Contract.

Vending Machines
A vending area is located next to the 24 hour lounge. Soft drinks, snacks, and change are available in the vending room.

Kitchen Facilities
There is a small kitchen area located next to the 24 hour lounge that contains a sink, microwave, and a stove. This space is available to all residents of the building.
