2.1 Wheeling Jesuit University employees are prohibited from soliciting or distributing materials or literature of any kind to other employees:
- While the employee (or the employee targeted for solicitation or distribution of materials or literature) is on work time or
- at any time in the work area.
2.1.1 "Work time" does not include authorized break periods, lunch times, or other periods during the workday when the employee is permitted time away from the performance of his/her assigned work duties and the employee(s) with whom he/she is communicating is also permitted time away from the performance of his/her assigned work duties.
2.1.2 "Work area" does not include the lunch / break rooms or any areas on campus or in the work area where employees typically congregate during their authorized break periods or time away from the performance of assigned work duties.
An Employee who wishes to issue a campus-wide email distributing materials or literature, or access to materials or literature, is prohibited from using University email per IT policies. Employees who have questions regarding what is or is not appropriate or permissible to be sent over campus email may direct their inquiries to Human Resources or ITS.
2.3 Off-duty employees are prohibited from entering work areas either during work time or break time for any reason.
2.4 Solicitation or distribution of materials or literature on the University's private property by non-employees at any time is prohibited.
2.5 Violations of this policy will subject an employee to corrective discipline up to and including termination.
