Class of 1964 Ignatian Scholarship
"In the spirit of “men and women for others”, many in the members of the Class of ’64 believe that we have a responsibility to ensure that the education and Wheeling experience we received are offered to future generations. We want to make a difference."
"In 2014, members of the Class of 1964 will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of our graduation. To mark this momentous milestone, our class has established the “Class of 1964 Ignatian Scholarship” with an endowment goal of $250,000. This scholarship fund will bring new students to Wheeling Jesuit who might otherwise be unable to afford its first class education, will support a high quality and diverse Wheeling Jesuit student body, and will enhance the revenue stream and support the fiscal viability of our alma mater. We will have funded this gift, the “Class of 1964 Ignatian Scholarship”, to present to Wheeling Jesuit when we celebrate our 50th reunion."
"It is hoped that most of all the members of our class will be able to donate $1,000 every year for the four years leading up to our 50th reunion in 2014. For those who cannot afford this level, any amount that can be contributed will help the class reach our goal and will be appreciated by all. We are each thankful for our wonderful education and know that our gift will be most appreciated by the capable recipients of the scholarship, who might not otherwise be able to afford a Wheeling Jesuit education."
"One of the greatest leaders of the 20th Century, Sir Winston Churchill, once said, “We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.” We ask that you reflect on the true value of your Wheeling education and give future generations the opportunity that we, the class of 1964, had—to make not just a living, but a life."

Class of 1974 Endowed Scholarship
In honor of their 25th Reunion, the Class of 1974 established the Class of 1974 Endowed Scholarship. They were proud to announce that they raised enough money to endow the scholarship, and it was awarded to the first recipient in the 2010-2011 academic year.
Since they did such a fantastic job, the class agents and scholarship committee wanted to continue the momentum and work to increase the scholarship to $50,000 in honor of their 40th reunion in 2014. Two of their classmates generously offered to donate a combined total of $12,500, if the other members of the class raised the additional $12,500. The class needs to raise $2,500 annually and are sure that they can accomplish that goal. As the endowment grows, so does the amount of the award and the number of students assisted.
The members of the scholarship committee are reaching out to their classmates. They understand the enormity of asking for a gift in these trying times, but they ask the members of the Wheeling College Class of 1974 to join them in making a pledge/commitment to donate consecutively over the next several years, in support of the Class of 1974 Endowed Scholarship. Classmates will receice a scholarship update at the beginning of each academic year.
The committee suggests a quite painless way to participate. "The college will keep your credit card on record and deduct monthly, quarterly, etc. whatever you are comfortable with. They usually make deductions around the 15th of each month, unless otherwise designated. For example, $5 a month would be $60 a year times 50 people is $3k a year, easily reaching our goal by 2014."

"The point is . . . it’s not the amount of the gift, but the effort! We know we can count on you to join us in making this commitment."
