More than 400 students, employees and faculty gathered in Wheeling Jesuit University's McDonough Center performance gym Tuesday, Sept. 12 to celebrate the annual Mass of the Holy Spirit.

The Mass was presided by Monsignor Kevin Quirk, WJU class of 1989, chairman of the WJU Board of the Trustees, who was joined by the Most Rev. Michael J. Bransfield, bishop of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston. Also participating in the Mass were members of the WJU Jesuit community and parish priests from the Diocese.

Rev. Jim Conroy, rector of the Jesuit community at Wheeling Jesuit gave the homily during the Mass.

The Mass of the Holy Spirit is a tradition among Jesuit academic institutions dating to 1548 in which the community gathers to thank God for the gifts of creation and salvation and to seek the guidance and wisdom of the Holy Spirit in the coming year.
